Where to Eat After a Visit to Land Between the Lakes?

What to do if you’ve been exploring LBL and suddenly realize it’s way past your lunchtime?

If it’s lake season, head to Craig’s Dairy Dream in Grand Rivers. They’ve got a menu that takes you waaaay back – the kind with blue plastic letters and a Pepsi advertisement. It’s that nostalgic walk-up where you order and pay at one window, pick up at the next. (Bring cash. But if you forget, there’s an ATM literally on the porch.) Craig’s isn’t fancy. Or fast. But wow – those burgers!

Sweet Thing ordered the Craig – a double burger with habanero cheese, jalapenos and chipotle sauce. I ate his tots, because they were super crispy and perfect. And hallelujah – THEY HAVE DIET MOUNTAIN DEW ON THE FOUNTAIN! (This is a huge win for us.)

It was chilly on the day we went, so we ate in the car. But there are several picnic tables outside the stand. And next time we go – I’m going to skip the meal and head straight to dessert with a blended hurricane. Think “blizzard,” Grand Rivers-style. I’m either a Strawberry Cheesecake flavor girl or a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup girl – depends on my mood. Of course, you can always go with the traditional cone. Don't forget to stay with us while you're visiting.

What’s your go-to flavor?
