I Visited the Purchase Area Coffee and Chocolate Festival at Kentucky Lake

I’ve told y’all before that I’m not a big coffee drinker. Don’t be hatin’ – I get my morning jolt from a Diet Mountain Dew. But I will swerve for chocolate – and that’s exactly what I did last weekend at the Purchase Area Coffee and Chocolate Festival in Calvert City, Kentucky.

several jars of colorful sugar scrub

I was hit by all the smells as soon as I walked in the door. Coffee, fudge, cookies, brownies, cupcakes – and even a hint of Rosemary Mint from the sugar scrub at the Alpaca Soaps booth. Over two hundred flavors of fudge at one booth? Oh yes, there were. Peanut butter fudge - thumbs up. Dill pickle fudge - thumbs down. Were there free samples at all the booths? Oh yes. Which turned into several bags that I had hanging from my elbows on both sides while juggling my phone so I could take cool pictures to share with y’all. If I drank coffee I would have dropped it anyway.

several jars of bad bandit seasoning

Yes, I bought the sugar scrub, too, along with some really good BBQ seasoning from Bad Bandits. You could sample them, too, on cute little oyster crackers. The focaccia with pepperoni and olives from Chef Jamie’s was a family favorite when I arrived back at the house.

several types of bread on a table

What was my best purchase of the day? Premade cookie mixes from Cookies-in-a-bag by Danette in cute little resealable bags shaped like Mason jars! The bag is too stinkin' cute to throw away so I’ll be figuring out something to store in it now that the cookies are made.

There were food trucks, too – but it was pouring rain when I left and the tornado sirens were going off at my house so – surprise – I skipped them this year. But a big shout out to the Calvert Area Development Association  for putting on such a fun event! It’s usually the first part of March if you want to put it on your calendar for 2027!
