There's a New Bakery in Downtown Benton!

Y'all, I need to talk to you about Cafe De Fae.

You may have heard of it from its days in Paducah. But Jade — the owner, a Benton girl who grew up right here in Marshall County — has brought it home. And not just anywhere in downtown Benton. She opened it in the old Nelson's Drug Store location. The same place where, thirty years ago, she was a kid making milkshakes behind the counter.

I cannot think of a better origin story if I tried.

The vibe inside is warm and a little whimsical — but let's talk about the food, because that's why you're really going to want to make the drive.

Start your morning with her homemade biscuits and gravy. The kind you don't rush through. The kind you linger over.

Doesn't this all look YUM?

And then — please, for the love of all things good and kind — get yourself to the bakery case. The peanut butter cup cupcakes are everything. The strawberry shortcake cookies made me stop mid-bite and look around like, is everyone else experiencing this? The chocolate chunk cookies are thick and perfect and I barely got to have a bite because Sweet Thing ate them all. She has iced Earl Grey blueberry lavender tea and it's unlike anything I've had at the lake — floral and a little fancy and completely refreshing.

First Semper Sweets, and now this?! Downtown Benton is having a moment, and Cafe De Fae is a big reason why. Hours are changing as summer gets closer, so check her Facebook page before you head over. Go support Jade. Get the cupcake. You'll thank me later.
