The Tiki Turtle at Green Turtle Bay is a Favorite Lakeside Spot

Y’all, stop what you're doing and listen to me for a second.

There’s a place at the lake called the Tiki Turtle. (Yes, it used to be known as the Thirsty Turtle. Same place, new vibe.) It sits right on the water at Green Turtle Bay. And if you have not been there yet, we need to fix that immediately.

Let me paint you a picture. You're sitting outside — because of course you're sitting outside, the outdoor seating is everything — watching the sun go down over Lake Barkley. And I'm not talking about a little pink sky situation. I'm talking about one of those slow, golden, absolutely gorgeous lake sunsets that makes you forget you ever had a to-do list. You've got a cold Bravazzi hard Italian soda in your hand — the blood orange flavor is on tap, which delights me every single time — and somewhere nearby a band is playing live music.

The food is legit. Order a burger and fries. Sweet thing and I are big fans of the crab cakes, too. The menu has something for everyone, and the whole vibe is casual and fun and welcoming — this is absolutely a bring-the-whole-family kind of place. Kids running around, lawn games going, boats pulling up to the dock. It's a lake evening done exactly right.

And here's the cherry on top — the Tiki Turtle is in Grand Rivers, which means you're just a short drive from Patti's 1880's Settlement. Make a whole day of it. Lunch at Patti's, sunset at the Tiki Turtle, and then come back and sleep well at the Lakehouse Inn.

That's a perfect lake day if I've ever heard one.
