I don't cry a lot anymore.
I used to cry about everything, even those kid-comes-home-from-college-for-Christmas commercials. Maybe this happens as you get older.
But I cried at a recent family reunion, and I barely knew the people.
We have a lot of families that visit year after year, booking the entire place for their reunion. Some have been coming for as many as forty years. Naturally, there are family members who used to attend who have passed.
One weekend last summer, as the sun was going down, I looked out at the pool and saw the entire Nester clan, sitting in those mesh folding chairs like my grandmother had, watching old movies on the screen, starring family members - many of whom weren't with them anymore. One loss was quite recent.
I remember watching these when I was little. They didn't have sound. Now I wish they did, because I would love to hear my Nana Fowler's voice again.
Seeing that family watching their family on the outdoor screen is by far the best moment I've experienced at the Inn so far.

Of course, family reunions are also about gathering. Sitting, talking, watching kids run around, and reminiscing. We have lots of space for that. The Eickhoff family, pictured above, is another group that returns year after year.

The Lankswert family is a super fun group to host. They're big fans of live music, party favors and photo booths. They spend lots of time poolside - just like our guests who aren't here for a reunion.
We do reunions up right here. Let's plan yours.
