Have You Ever Wanted to Try Glass Fusion?

I'm a real sucker for a fun DIY craft project. Especially when I can drag friends and family along.

Y'all know that I love the Funky Monkey Pottery Company from reading my blog last summer - but this is new info, so pay attention. Back before Christmas I ran by there because I was curious about what "glass fusion" classes were - and I ended up scheduling a class (aaaaand I drug friends along).

Everyone was freaking out at first, afraid it was going to be hard - but really, it felt like we were just making tiny stained glass things. You picked out little pieces of glass, trimmed them if you needed to and glued them to a clear glass shape (that Jackie had already made), like this.

Then she puts them in the kiln, and you go back by and pick them up and VOILA! Everyone in my family got handmade ornaments for Christmas this year, because I am hooked! Look how cute this one is!

I even went back after Christmas and took my daughters (again, forcing family members to craft) and we made little dishes and plant stakes. Check these out:

My advice? First, call ahead to schedule. She has to walk you through the tips and tricks and it takes 10-15 minutes for that. She's open Wednesday - Sunday. Second - leave little kids at home. We had a mature 9-year-old with us and she did awesome - but glass can be dangerous for tiny ones. Finally - make a list of all the people who need a cool craft, handmade by YOU!

GUESS WHAT EVERYONE IS GETTING FOR THEIR BIRTHDAYS THIS YEAR........
