Sometimes, you just need chocolate. Or at least something sweet. I'm about to hook you up with the perfect destination.
Semper Sweets in downtown Benton, Kentucky opened in October 2025. They're veteran-owned (and mom-approved) and have a huge selection of fudge, candies, gummy bears, truffles, dipped nuts, and even gourmet candy bars (I gained 5 pounds typing that.) My new friend Ruth gave me a tour and filled me in on the story of Chocolate Moonshine.

Apple pie moonshine truffles totally caught my eye. All of their truffles are only one hundred calories each, and are Belgian chocolate, hand painted with French cocoa butter. You can grab a gift pack of 10 for $35 - and she has these cute celebration sleeves that she can add! (Valentine's Day is coming up, y'all.)

I bought some chocolate caramel turtles and a slice of the peanut butter chocolate fudge (it's layered and looks like a giant Reese's) and the fudge is some of the best I've ever had. She has new gift boxes in so you can create your own assortment. And she'll work with you to create corporate gift boxes to send as customer appreciation gifts.
Of course, I had to ask her what she had planned for this year. Turns out the Belgian chocolate fountain is arriving next week, so she can do dipped strawberries, pretzels, marshmallows - may I suggest dipped Ritz peanut butter crackers? She may have even mentioned hand-dipped ice cream. Are you team cone or team cup?
On your way out, grab one of their custom candles. All the proceeds stay right here in Marshall County, donated to the local Disabled American Veterans chapter.

Doing good, supporting local, only a hundred calories. You're welcome.
