Anniversary Weekend at the Lake: Firepits, Robes, and Zero Agenda

Y'all, some getaways need a spreadsheet - flights, dinner reservations, a color-coded itinerary. An anniversary weekend at the lake is not that kind of trip, and that's the whole point.

Here's what I mean. You check in, and that's it — no lobby line, no small talk you don't feel like making, thanks to contactless check-in. You walk into a room that got a full renovation in 2023, so we're not talking about some tired old motor court — think eclectic decor, luxury bedding, and high-end linens that actually feel like a treat. There's a plush spa robe waiting on the hook for each of you, because if you're going to do nothing for two days straight, you might as well do it in something soft. If you fall in love with the robes, too – we sell them in the gift shop.

A cozy fire pit surrounded by blue chairs and greenery.

When evening rolls around, that's when our gas firepit earns its keep. It's out back by the pool, it's on a timer so nobody has to fuss with matches or kindling, and it is, without exaggeration, one of the best "just sit here and talk" spots on the property. If you'd rather have the real thing crackling and popping, we've also got a wood-burning firepit out front with firewood stacked and ready. Add a S’mores kit if you like. Either way, that's your evening — no plans required.

If sleep is part of your idea of romance (and honestly, it should be), every room has a sleep sound machine, so you're drifting off to something soothing instead of the sound of the ice machine down the hall. Add our “Sleep Like a Local Package” and surprise your mate. Kitchenettes mean you can keep a bottle of something cold without leaving the room, and if one of you golfs, we're close to three different public courses if a round together sounds like a good way to spend a morning before you go back to doing absolutely nothing.

Come morning, swing by the lobby and let us make you an espresso or an iced coffee — no need to go hunting for a coffee shop when you're supposed to be doing nothing.

If you're visiting between April and October, our four cabins are also worth a look - each one has a full kitchen, a private porch with seating, and your own charcoal grill, if you want even more privacy than a room gives you.

One honest note: our pools are heated and cooled, so summer swims don't turn into bathwater, and cooler months don't mean the pool's off-limits either — worth knowing if a quiet nighttime swim sounds like your kind of anniversary moment.

If you'd rather have us handle a few of the little touches, ask about our romance package when you book — we'll tailor it to the two of you, so it's an easy way to make the weekend feel a bit more special without you having to plan a thing.

A quick heads-up, because I'd feel bad not mentioning it: weekends fill up fast around here, especially during peak season, so if you've got a date circled on the calendar, it's worth locking in your room sooner rather than later.

However you spend your weekend, come back each evening to a robe on the hook, a firepit waiting outside, and absolutely nothing you have to do next.

See y'all at the lake!
