How Long Until the “New” Bridge is Just the “Bridge?” (Room 306)

“This is a historical marker at the Eggner’s Ferry Bridge. It opened in April of 2016, replacing the old bridge that had been constructed in 1932. Completion of the new bridge was sped up after the Delta Mariner cargo ship hit the old bridge in 2012, causing a middle section to collapse onto the ship. The collapse affected work and college commutes as well as recreational travel to and from the area. The Eggner’s Ferry Bridge carries US 68 and KY Route 80 across Kentucky Lake between Trigg and Marshall County. I snapped this photo in February of 2020.”
